John Plaugic:
holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Caldwell College. Plaugic currently holds a Certificate with Advanced Standing from the State of New Jersey to teach Social Studies at the Kindergarten-12 grade levels. At Caldwell College, Plaugic was a 3 year starting goalkeeper, team captain, 2009 Regular Season CACC Champion and a two time All-CACC selection for the Cougars.
Plaugic previously was a staff member for Red Bull NY Regional Developmental School (RDS). The New York Red Bulls set the pace for player development in Major League Soccer as the first professional team to boast a satellite-based, academy feeder system.
In the summer of 2011 Plaugic was recently awarded a Regional Director position with NO. 1 Soccer Camps which was founded by Joseph A. Machnik. Dr. Joe served as Assistant Coach to the 1990 United States World Cup team and was awarded a FIFA bronze medal as Assistant Coach of the United States National Five-A Side team at the World Championships in 1989.
Plaugic also is the Assistant Varsity Soccer Coach & Goalkeeping Director at St. Benedict’s Preparatory School in Newark, NJ. Since Plaugic’s arrival, St. Benedict’s Preparatory School has a 61-4 record and has won the New Jersey Prep A State Championship three years in a row! St. Benedict’s Prep 2011 has recently been crowned Nationals Champions by ESPN RISE & NSCAA for their performance his Fall! This is St. Benedict’s Prep 7th National Championship in school history!
In the past three season’s St. Benedict’s Prep has only conceded 24 goals in 65 games and has a tenacious defensive record, conceding less than half a goal per game (0.37 GAA) and collecting 45 shutouts in 65 games.
Under Plaugic’s tutelage each of the past two St. Benedict’s Prep Goalkeepers have been named to the All-Prep team by the Star Ledger. Christopher Lands (2009) made Second Team All-Prep and is the current starting goalkeeper at Manhattan College. Lands has just been named to the All-MAAC Rookie Team in his first year starting in goal for the Jaspers. Current starting goalkeeper at St. Benedict’s Prep, Thomas Bull (2010 & 2011) has been named First Team All-Prep by the Star Ledger for two consecutive seasons and has been selected to the ESPN RISE New Jersey All-State Team two years in a row.
A native of Kearny, NJ and graduate of Kearny High School, Plaugic was a 2002 NJSIAA Boys Group IV State Champion at Kearny. After college Plaugic played in the Norwegian 2. divisjon for Kolstad FK.
Plaugic holds a NSCAA National Diploma, NSCAA National Goalkeeping Diploma and obtained the American Red Cross, Adult, Infant, & Child CPR, AED & First Aid Certification.
